Before the visit
On arrival
The memorial complex covers a large area; therefore, it is recommended to follow the signs.
In order to visit Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum, a visitor ticket must first be purchased at the ticket office at Žemaičių pl. 73.
Visitors who have booked a guided tour or an educational activity must also go to the ticket office first.

Exhibitions
After ticket purchase, visitors are invited to visit the exhibitions housed in the Ninth Fort building (Žemaičių pl. 75).
The exhibition spaces are cool; therefore, it is recommended to dress warmly and wear comfortable footwear.
Due to renovation work, the exhibition in the building housing the ticket office and events hall is currently closed, and Kazys Morkūnas’s stained-glass window is temporarily not on display.
Guided tours
Visitors wishing to find out more about the museum and the themes it explores are invited to join private tours (Tuesdays–Fridays) and organised tours (Saturdays–Sundays).
The defensive wall of the Ninth Fort and the underground passageways may only be visited with a tour guide or an educator. It is not possible to explore these areas independently.

Important information
The grounds of Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum are a memorial site: between 1941 and 1944, approximately 50,000 people were murdered here.
Visitors are asked to:
- familiarise themselves with the visiting rules,
- to respect the memory of those who were killed,
- to maintain a solemn atmosphere and observe the established rules,
- not to walk dogs or other pets,
- not to take photographs of weddings, cars or other inappropriate subjects at the memorial site.
